今回は先日アメリカで起きた事件について、私なりの考えを記事にしようと思います。

その事件とは、黒人男性であるジョージ・フロイド氏が、白人警官のデレク・ショーヴィンに首を膝で押さえつけられた状態で8分36秒という長い間息ができない状態にありそのまま窒息死してしまった、という事件です。

事件について

About the case

• Work: Worked at the Minneapolis Police Department for over 18 years. For 17 years, he worked as an off duty police officer at "El Nuevo Rodeo club". ジョージ・フロイドとデレク・ショーヴィン｜事前に接触していた可能性があった！？

この事件について調べているうちに、気になる情報を発見しました。

それは、ジョージ・フロイドと元白人警官のデレク・ショーヴィンは以前に同じナイトクラブで警備員として働いていたというのです。

そのクラブの名前は「El Nuevo Rodeo club」。

ミネアポリス市内にあるナイトクラブで、元オーナーの証言によると、フロイド氏は火曜日の補助要員として働いていて、ショーヴィン被告は非番の警官として17年間も同じナイトクラブで働いていたそうです。

ただ、その二人が接触していたかどうかは元オーナーも把握していなかったようで、はっきりとした答えは話していないものの同じ店内で働く者同士であればすれ違ったり、目が合ったりすることは無きにしも非ずという認識のようです。

まあ、普通に考えて片方が17年間も同じ店で働いていたのならほぼ確実に相手を把握していたことは間違いないだろうと思いますが。。。

事前の接触の可能性

According to ex-club owner Maya Santa Maria, both Floyd and police officer Shovan were working as guards and were working shifts at a Latin nightclub.

「Racism」(人種差別)は無くならない…

これらの記事や情報を見ていると、この事件はある意味起こるべくして起こってしまった事件なのかもしれないと思ってしまう。

なぜ白人は生まれながらに優位な特権をもっているのか？

それは歴史的な背景があるということは、あまり歴史が得意ではない私自身も何となく授業で習ったのを覚えています。

しかし、それを何とか撤廃しようとしてきた歴史もあることも事実であり、そのたびにたくさんの血が流れてきたのでしょう。

それなのに、未だに人種差別は無くならない。

Looking at these articles and information, I wonder if this case may have happened as it should happen.

Why are white people born with superior privileges?

It has a historical background, and I remember that I was not very good at history and somehow learned it in class.

However, it is also true that there is a history of trying to abolish it, and a lot of blood may have flowed each time.

Yet, racism still persists.

なぜなのか・・・？

今、その答えが出つつあるのではないかと私は思っています。

結局のところ、その国のトップの考えによってその国のほとんどのことが決まってしまう。

それはアメリカだけではなく私の住む日本でも同じだし、ほとんどの国がそうだと思います。

現在のアメリカのトランプ政権については、あまり政治についてわからない私でさえも疑問に思うことが多々あるので、そのアメリカに住んでいる国民はもっと疑問を抱いている人がたくさんいるんだろうなと思います。

（これはあくまでも個人的な意見です。）

That is true not only in the United States, but in Japan where I live, and I think that is true in most countries.

I don't know much about the current Trump administration, and I don't know much about it. ..

本当の意味での「正義（Justice）」とは

本来の「正義」の意味とは

せい‐ぎ【正義】

このことからも本来ならば警察官という職業は犯罪者に対し、正しい意義を持って対処するべきであって、今回のような抵抗力が無いもしくはその抵抗の意思がない人に対して決して武力行使をしてはならないものなのではないだろうか。

今回のこの事件はデレク・ショーヴィン被告の単独的な行動だったのかもしれないが、そのような行為を容認していた警察組織自体にも問題があるのではないかと思います。

I wrote in the dictionary.

For this reason, the profession of police officers should deal with criminals with the correct meaning, and should never be used against those who have no resistance or have no intention of resisting. Isn't it something that should not be exercised?

The incident may have been the sole act of defendant Derek Shovin, but I suspect that there is a problem with the police organization itself, which allowed such acts.

＃Black lives matter

翌日から現場にはたくさんの人々が訪れ、そこから今回の「＃Black lives matter」のデモンストレーションが始まったのです。

この「＃Black lives matter」のデモ活動は現在（2020年6月22日時点）でも続いており、一部の抗議者が暴徒化して警察署に火をつけたり、店を破壊して強奪したりして人種差別とはまた別の意味で問題になってきています。

さらには、この抗議活動の最中に別の黒人男性が警察官によって射殺されるという事件も起きています。

今のところ、まだまだこの抗議活動は続いていくことが予想されます。

私は、ジョージ・フロイド氏の弟であるテレンス・フロイド氏のが言っていたように、平和的なデモ活動をして抗議していくのが大事なのであって、さらにこのような体制を変えていくには選挙権を持つ人が選挙に行って正しい道を示す人に投票する、ということが必要なのではないかと思います。

特に若い人は選挙の意味をあまり理解していない人が多くいると思うので、そのような若者にも理解してもらって正しい知識を広めていくことが大切なのではないでしょうか？

まとめ

今回は黒人であるジョージ・フロイド氏の致死（殺人）事件をきっかけにした人種差別の問題について取り上げました。

この人種差別の問題は白人や黒人の人々だけではなく、世界各地で起こっているということを私たちは一人ひとりが理解しなければならない問題だと思います。

多様化してきた現代社会において、いつまでも歴史的背景に影響され続けるのはよくないと思います。

今こそ、この事件をきっかけに世界中が人種差別の問題について改めて考える必要があると私は思います。

あともう一つ言いたいことは、今回殺害されてしまったジョージ・フロイド氏について前科があるということ。ここがまた問題なのでは？と私は思っています。

現代の情報社会の中で過去の犯罪歴というものは、確実にデータ化されているはずなのですぐにわかることだし、犯罪歴があるのであれば再犯の可能性もあると考えてしまうのも事実。

そのような点においては警察側も徹底して犯罪を洗い出したいと考えるのは当然なのかもしれません…

だから、犯罪には絶対に手を染めてはいけない！

犯罪を犯してしまったら、その報いが必ず自分に返ってくるということを忘れないことが犯罪抑止への意識改革にもつながるのではないでしょうか？

この事件は、人としての在り方をもう一度考え直すきっかけにもなる事件だったのではないかと思います。

So, never commit crime!

If you commit a crime, not forgetting that the reward will always come back to you may lead to a change in attitude toward crime deterrence.

I think this case may have been a chance to rethink the way we are as a person.
